In Australia, privacy law generally relates to the protection of an individual’s personal information.
As part of providing a psychological service to your psychologist will need to collect and record personal information from you that is relevant to your current situation. This information will be a necessary part of the psychological assessment and follow up service provided.
You may wish and/or have a copy of the material recorded in your file upon request, subject to the exceptions in Australian Privacy Principle (APPs). The APP sets out standards, rights and obligations for the handling, holding, accessing and correction of personal information (including sensitive information).

Your service provider Barbara Miller is a registered psychologist with over 10,000 hours of one-on-one therapy experience. She is also a master teacher and life/executive coach with a passion for helping individuals harness their potential and flourish.
As a member of the Australian Psychological Society since 1996, Barbara follows guidelines about professional conduct, responsibilities and confidentiality that are set and monitored by the Society in a Code of Ethics.
At first session or before attending you will be provided with a copy of the APS Charter for Clients of Psychologists and information about the services provided, confidentiality privacy and fees.
